8 Ways to Celebrate Dad This Father’s Day

Father’s Day is a day to celebrate the life of your father, and thank him for everything he has done for you. The way you celebrate should be as unique and special as your father. Often, these holidays become a time to spend money, rather than time together. You shouldn’t have to spend a lot to show your father you care. Below are just some ways to celebrate, many of which won’t cost a dime!

1. Appreciation. Tell your father how much you appreciate everything he has done for you. Whether you do this in a card or a conversation, it will mean so much to him to know how much you care. Being a parent is often a thankless job, so to have appreciation put into words can mean so much.

2. Spend Time Together. One of the greatest gifts you can give is the gift of your time and undivided attention. Especially in this day and age, when time seems to be the one thing we never have. Clear your schedule, put down your phone, and make sure your father gets the time and recognition he deserves on his special day.

3. Go On a Picnic. Weather permitting, enjoy the great outdoors with dad this year. Handpick dad’s favorite snacks and treats so he knows you were thinking of him. Don’t forget the sunscreen and bug spray – you don’t want the day ruined by sunburn or bug bites! There are plenty of wonderful parks on Delmarva, the hardest part will be picking which one to visit!

4. Movie Night. If your dad is less of an outdoors type, plan a movie marathon night. You can either pick out his favorites, or some new ones you know he’ll enjoy, and create your own home theater experience. Don’t forget the snacks and popcorn!

5. Scrapbook. Put together a photo album or scrapbook of photos and memories from your lifetime. This is a thoughtful and priceless gift that can be enjoyed for years to come. This Father’s Day, be sure to take plenty of pictures to add into the book!

6. Do a Scavenger Hunt. Make dad work for his Father’s Day gift, in a way that will get the whole family up and moving. Come up with clues or riddles to lead him on a fun-filled journey. This will ensure it’s a Father’s Day to remember for years to come.

7. Work On A Project. If your father is a D.I.Y. type, pick a project that you can work on together. Whether it be woodworking, cars, or even putting a fresh coat of paint on the walls, you can turn a project into a bonding experience. It will mean a lot to your father that you took an interest in his project.

8. Host a Barbecue. Celebrate dad by having a family barbecue. Get together his favorite meats, sides, and desserts and have a full-on party! If your father is a grill aficionado, get him a special apron or a new pair of tongs for the grill that he can enjoy on Father’s Day.

Wishing all you wonderful dads out there a beautiful Father’s Day. Thank you for everything you do.
